Halloween time and Family Photo shoot!

Back in October we asked Marcus's sister to come with us up into the canyons to where Marcus and I had first had our engagement pics taken to have an 'official' family picture taken! She agreed, and she took some pretty nice ones if I do say so myself! :) Thank you!! It was pretty chilly out there that day so Liliana is pretty bundled up... which made for some humorous poses on her end. But overall we had a pretty good time!
Halloween was an exciting time here at the Jensen household because it was Liliana's FIRST! :D It was a tough decision deciding on what costume to get her because we had so many awesome choices to choose from. (Garden Gnome, Giant Whoopee Cushion, and many other fascinating ideas) We finally came to the conclusion that we should go cute and sweet, so we chose an adorable little lamb costume!
(Isn't her grumpy face the best?! Our poor child... lol)

Tried... Fried?

So, getting a deep fryer for my b-day, Marcus and I decided to try our hand at deep frying- everyone's favorite- FAIR FOOD! Three delicious foods that made our list was; Snickers, Twinkies, and Oreos! Well... our first attempt at deep frying was a failure. :( Yeah, we forgot to lower the dropper basket into the oil first before the snickers... so... they welded themselves to the dropper basket!! It was a COMPLETE disaster. (see pic above. Yeah, that blob of chocolate was two battered snickers. :( *whimper*)

A couple of days later we learned from our mistake and created some awesome twinkies and oreos! First things first, we made sure we lowered the basket INTO the frying oil first!! Lol, and a few seconds later we had some crunchy on the outside and creamy center delicacies! (see the first two pics featured above. Yeah, the tongs got so coated that we decided to go ahead and fry that too. Ha ha)

So needless to say, it was fun, fattening, and we definitely exercised our butts off the day after!! ;D

New Baby!!

On Sept. 13th, 2010 we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl! At first we had no idea what to name her. We went from Amberlee, to Ember. From Lillian to Lilly... There were so many options and combinations to choose from I was worried when she came we would've just had to call her Baby Peanut or something. A few days before I went into labor we were watching Food Network's Iron Chef and one of the Judges for that day was named Liliana. I immediately paused T.V. (yay for DVR!) and wrote it down! Marcus and I both loved it. So low and behold... when she came out, Marcus looked at me and asked, "What about the name Liliana Hikari Jensen?" I looked at our little girl, then back at Marcus and said, "Yes." It was perfect.
Hikari is Japanese for 'Light'. I found the name when I was looking at a National Geographic Website and looking at pictures that photographers had taken. There was one picture that caught my eye. It was of a little girl on a train deep in thought 'looking towards the lights of downtown Hakodate, Japan. When viewed from the top of Hakodate Mountain it is considered one of the most beautiful night views in the world.' The photographer talked to the little girl and her father and about what her name meant. As soon as I read it I knew I wanted to name my little girl that. :D
